How We Can Help: Players

Some people have asked why my services are necessary at this level. Well the answer is many young players and their parents have only a basic knowledge of how best to get on the football ladder and at what level. Also lads who have left the pro Academy systems usually want to stay engaged in the game but are are often uninformed about opportunities in the lower steps of the game. We can guide them. And lads coming from overseas often have very little knowledge of the game beneath Premiership level. And they need guidance too.

We are dedicated to helping and mentoring players, guiding them hopefully to stay in the game and  towards the next steps in their career. Focused on, say, steps 1-6 of the football ladder, I use  the many connections I have made over the last few years to advise positively about moving up the football ladder. Hopefully this leads to playing spots, the majority of which could attract wages, and at the higher levels contracts possibly too.

We can and do offer guidance on important matters like  possible wage levels, expenses etc and wherever possible try and guide players and their parents etc about the risks of being exploited.  Football can be a ruthless business at lower levels.

However I should explain that I am not an agent nor an intermediary so we will not expect to take any commission from your earnings. However there could be a simple charging arrangement for our services which we can happily discuss with you.

However there’s one important thing we want you to appreciate. Our role is to help and guide you to the next position in your footballing development. We have to take at face value what you and your parents/contacts tell us about your skill level and potential. Being human, people tend to overcall this. So when we try and suggest a great new opportunity for you, we cannot be responsible about how a club/coach/manager may react once they see you perform. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out. We use all of our best efforts to try and maximise your next opportunity but we cannot guarantee success. If anything we try and be as honest as possible with you about your next steps. We just want you to remember and appreciate this if we take on your particular challenge. OK?

How We Can Help: Clubs

We also work with managers/coaches, even club owners to help with their player issues. We have established working relationships with numerous clubs who use my services to help ‘guide’ players who may have been released from their squad or badly injured or having personal issues.  It’s a much-needed but time-consuming and sometimes costly process for clubs to undertake on their own. That’s where we come in – we have a wealth of experience and a huge pool of eager players we may be able to point in your direction.

We can even arrange a show-case game, where we will line up a team of potential players to play a behind closed doors game with your team, effectively so you can assess several players at the same time. What happens subsequently is down to the club and the players. These have proven to be a highly effective ‘look-see’ for clubs and players alike.

For all players I’m asked to mentor from your club we would charge a very reasonable fee, which we’d be happy to discuss with you.  We would not expect to get involved in any contract negotiations.

I am sometimes also asked for advice on how to get started as a mentor, possibly leading on to an intermediary role and, whilst I am happy to help, it can take up a lot of my time, so there may be some reasonable charge incurred.
